Rally Obedience Information

We currently use CKC rules and signage. The only difference is we allow treats for the standard stream. Honors levels do not allow treats.

We highly recommend printing at least 3 of each direction signs in both "regular" (90*) and 270*. This will be much easier. We printed each of our signs in black and white then put them in clear plastic page protectors and put large weights on the corners of each sign.

Quick tips

Rally Novice allows for unlimited redos per run, and 3 redos per sign. Remember that each redo will cost your points, so be aware of that, however an improperly performed sign results in -10!

Rally Intermediate allows for 3 redos per run, requires a leash, and does not have a jump.

Rally Advanced allows for 1 redo per run, and a failure to jump will result in an NQ. You can not redo the jump.

Rally Excellent does not allow for redos! Tread lightly and make sure you walk your couse multiple times without your dog to make sure you've got your course at least partially memorized. TRE has 1 jump. Also includes a sit stay exercise at the end.

Rally Masters is HARD, it's meant to be hard! Don't get frustrated, have fun! No redos allowed, and includes a stand stay exercise.

Rally Novice

Rally Novice is the beginners class. It includes easier signs and fewer in number (10-15). You are required to use a collar and a 4-6 foot leash. Leash must be kept in a slack position or "tight leash" deductions of points may apply. Novice is all about having fun, and we are less concerned about positions and more concerned about all the signs being completed in a timely and effective manner.

You are allowed unlimited redos however each redo will cost you points that will accumulate. So if you redo one sign 3 times it will be -8 points instead of -3.

You may feed a treat at the END of each station that has a halt at the END (stop sign). Feeding stations will be noted on the course maps.

Rally Intermediate

Rally Intermediate is NOT REQUIRED as a precursor to Rally Advanced. Rather, it is an option for people who aren't quite ready to be offleash. It does not include a jump however this level does include novice and advanced signage. You are required to compete with a leash that is 4-6 feet, no exceptions.

You may feed a treat at the END of each station that has a halt at the END (stop sign). Feeding stations will be noted on the course maps.

Rally Advanced

This is the level where things start to get a little more interesting. You are required to use a collar however a leash is not allowed. Leash can be dropped off at the front of the ring and picked up when the course is complete. You are only allowed 3 redos, and you can not redo the jump. Failure to jump will result in an NQ. Points are collected in this level, and the only precursor required is a TRN title. Out of positions during fronts and heeling will be marked harsher than TRI and TRN classes, so really polish up your positioning.

You may feed a treat at the END of each station that has a halt at the END (stop sign). Feeding stations will be noted on the course maps. MAX of 3 treats per run.

Rally Excellent

TRE includes the sit stay exercise. At the end of the course you will pass the finish sign to the call sign. Place your dog in a sit, get your leash, return to the heel position, then clip the leash to the collar, and leave the ring. The dog must remain in a sit or it will result in an NQ. This exercise must be performed or it will result in an NQ. You are not allowed any redos in this level!

You may feed a treat at the END of each station that has a halt at the END (stop sign). Feeding stations will be noted on the course maps. MAX of 3 treats per run.

Rally Masters

Rally Masters is HARD! There are no redos, position must be perfect or you will loose points quickly. TRE includes the sit stay exercise. At the end of the course you will pass the finish sign to the call sign. Place your dog in a stand, get your leash, return to the heel position, then clip the leash to the collar, and leave the ring. The dog must remain in a stand stay or it will result in an NQ. A few single paw movements are permissable but any change in position will result in an NQ.

You may feed a treat at the END of each station that has a halt at the END (stop sign). Feeding stations will be noted on the course maps. MAX of 3 treats per run.
